I hope this email finds everyone well. It is that time of year when DNR and USFWS could use a little help to make the Delayed Harvest (DH) season start off with a bang. We are seeking volunteers for the Amicalola, Toccoa, and Smith Creek DH sections on November 1st. The goal of these volunteer stockings is to spread trout out through the entire reach of the DH designated waters. Many of you have participated before and we are thankful for your support and hope to see you again this year. For newcomers, items to bring include; attached waiver filled out (we will have extras the day of), 5-gallon bucket, waders, warm clothes, work gloves (optional), and spare set of dry clothes. Kids are welcome, but they need to have one parent or guardian per child. Below I have put together a schedule and details for each section.
Amicalola- Trout Unlimited Goldrush Chapter will be leading this effort. We will gather in the Highway 53 parking lot at 11:00 am.
Toccoa- Trout Unlimited Blueridge Chapter will be leading this effort. We will start at Sandy Bottom canoe launch at 10:00 am. If you plan to float stock, please arrive earlier to launch your boat. I encourage the recruitment of as many boats as possible.
Smith Creek- Trout Unlimited Foothills Chapter will be leading this effort. We will meet at 11:30 am at the Smith Creek day use parking area below Unicoi Lake.
From past experiences, I think we will have adequate help at each location, but anybody is welcome to participate. Safety during these stockings is our number one priority. Georgia DNR and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service appreciate your support in these efforts.
