On Saturday, July 22nd, our Chapter had 11 members participate in the workday at Lovinggood Creek. This was a productive morning as we teamed with the Blue Ridge Chapter to continue the restoration of this small brook trout stream. Over 35 people from 4 different Chapters participated to make the day a success.
This is day is a perfect example of why we do these projects. The camaraderie was exceptional as we worked together. With the goodly number of participants, nobody was overworked, and yet we made good progress. I think one of the biggest things for me was seeing the difference we had made in a year. I am including two sets of pictures. The first will be of the event in 2016. There were more pictures, but I am including those of a section of stream approximately 100 feet long. Please notice how we found it, and the progress we made that day. Then see that same section of stream today. As you will see, there is now a much greater section of holding water for the small brook trout who inhabit this stream.
Thank you to those members who participated. We all had fun together and did a good thing for the environment. Days like these are what makes this Chapter so great!
