Our chapter is the newest Trout Unlimited chapter in Georgia (October 2003). We operate out of historic Dahlonega, Georgia, about 75 miles north of Atlanta. In our first year we received an Embrace-A-Stream grant from Trout Unlimited to begin the restoration of Cane Creek, which is a local trout stream in Lumpkin County, Georgia. Along with the stream restoration our chapter is sponsoring an outdoor classroom at Dahlonega’s Camp Glisson along the portion of Cane Creek that runs through the camp. The outdoor classroom is available to students from the local public schools and universities. It is through this process that we hope to promote the conservation goals of Trout Unlimited in our community.

When and Where We Meet

The Gold Rush Chapter meets the first Tuesday of each month in the Ivie Lodge at beautiful Camp Glisson in Dahlonega, Georgia. Camp Glisson is just one and one-half miles north of Dahlonega on Highway 60. The Camp Glisson directional sign is on the left 200 yards past Lumpkin County High School and across from Ace Hardware.Turn left onto Camp Glisson Road. It will bring you to the security gate in one-half mile. Continue about one-half mile past the gate through the camp to a bridge on your right. Cross the bridge and Ivie Lodge will be 100 yards on the left.

We are blessed to have such a great place to hold our meetings in the Ivie Lodge, which is a rustic conference center that overlooks Cane creek. If you are able, please attend one of our chapter meetings. Dinner is served at 6:30 PM while it lasts; and meetings start about 7:00 PM with any business that the chapter needs to discuss, followed by a great program. Programs range from informative speakers to casting clinics, slide shows and plenty of tall fishing tales. You will find news of upcoming speakers in our Newsletters. We hope you will join us for a meeting and support Trout Unlimited!
